ZOOP enabled AI fine-tuning on a laptop GPU at a cost cheaper than a Playstation. It simplifies the training process into a single YML file and one command, automating setup and execution. Traditionally, training an 8 million parameter model requires around 60GB of VRAM, but ZOOP reduces this to just 3.3GB using layer streaming. This technique loads and trains one layer at a time, then swaps the next, making it possible to run large models on laptops with as little as 4GB GPU memory.
