## Description
Pavel Durov built his career around one idea: freedom should not come with permission.

The Russian-born entrepreneur first became known for creating VK, one of Russia’s biggest social networks, before going on to create Telegram with his brother Nikolai.

But Durov’s story became bigger than technology.

He repeatedly positioned himself as someone unwilling to compromise on privacy, free expression, and independence—even when those principles created serious conflicts with governments and powerful institutions.

His lifestyle is just as unconventional. Durov has spoken openly about minimalism, discipline, fasting, and avoiding many of the traditional symbols of wealth and status.

Whether you agree with all of his views or not, his journey highlights a powerful lesson about entrepreneurship:
Building something valuable is one challenge. Staying independent after you build it can be even harder.
